Flying high…

Commercialization Center looming

Development of a Purdue Calumet Commercialization Center near campus is what prompted the university’s recent $2 million purchase of the 18,000 square feet Kaplan building on Indianapolis Boulevard. The center will provide laboratory space for enabling faculty, students and community members to develop and bring new product ideas to market. Another $2 million for renovation and furnishing costs are needed from private donors.

2 new degree programs

Two degree programs have been introduced on campus this semester:

  • A Master of Science in Modeling, Simulation and Visualization; and
  • An online Master of Science in Technology offering a concentration in Technology Leadership and Management.

Both programs will prepare students for challenging jobs in current and emerging fields.

Water, energy applied research labs

Purdue Calumet’s Water Institute and Energy Efficiency & Reliability Center now have their own modern laboratories from which to advance research that benefits northwest Indiana. U.S. Representative Pete Visclosky helped the university obtain U.S. Department of Energy grants that supported most of the cost of the $2.7 million labs.
