Introducing Public Bus Service On Campus

TO  Campus Community:

 

Public bus service with stops to and from campus will be introduced Tuesday (5/27) by the Gary Public Transportation Corp.

 

In addition to Purdue University Calumet, the new Lakeshore South bus route includes stops at Wal-Mart Connect and Food 4 Less near campus off 165th Street, Cabela’s, Ultra Foods in Highland, Target/Hammond Clinic in Munster and St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Center in downtown Hammond.

 

On campus, the bus will pick up and drop off passengers along Woodmar Avenue at 169th, 171st and 173rd Streets, Monday through Saturday.

 

Weekday campus service begins at 7:15 a.m. Pick-up/drop-off continues at 8:15 am, 9:15 am, 11:15 am, 12:15 pm, 1:15 pm, 2:15 pm, 3:15 pm, 4:15 pm and 5:15 pm. The final drop-off time is 6:15 pm.

 

Saturday service begins at 11:15 am and continues at 12:15 pm, 1:15 pm, 3:15 pm and 4:15 pm, with final day drop-off at 5:15 pm.

 

The Lakeshore South route also connects with other Gary Public Transportation Corp. bus routes that include stops at the East Chicago South Shore train station.

 

The fare for Lakeshore South route riders is $1.60 for adults and $1.25 for students displaying their Purdue Calumet ID card. Transfers are free. ADA complimentary service is available by making a reservation at least 24 hours in advance by phoning 219/884-6100.
