Restructured campus Health Center now open to faculty, staff & family members
The former Student Health Services Center is now a more comprehensive campus facility that is open to faculty, staff and their family members, as well as students.
Thanks to a continuing partnership between Purdue Calumet and The Community Hospital of Northwest Indiana, the renamed Health Center is under hospital management headed by Director of Physician Services Dr. Richard Buchler.
Same campus location & services
The Health Center continues to be located in ANNX 34 and open Monday through Friday. The phone extension remains x1235.
Nurse practitioner Anna Farmer, a Purdue Calumet alumna, manages the center on a day-to-day basis. Other staff positions of the former Student Health Services Center–nurse, medical assistant and secretary—remain.
“The same services provided at the Student Health Services Center are being offered at The Health Center, but likely in an expanded manner,” Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services and Student Affairs Carmen Panlilio said.
The Health Center’s expansion of services is at no additional cost to the university.
“This partnership truly is a win-win opportunity for both parties,” Panlilio said. “In addition to all Purdue Calumet campus constituents qualifying for campus-based health care, the hospital benefits from the prospect of adding a pool of thousands of potential patients.”
Another plus, according to Chancellor Thomas Keon, is that campus individuals who seek care and attention at The Health Center will be supported by the extensive, full service network of a highly respected hospital health care system.
Community Hospital’s management of The Health Center builds on a partnership between the university and hospital established last year. That partnership also is helping further development of the Dowling Park Athletics Complex and expanded athletic training/physical therapy services on campus.
