Purdue Calumet to host international conference in 2015
Thanks to efforts by English and Philosophy Head/Professor Dan Punday, Purdue Calumet will serve as host of next year’s International Conference on Narrative.
The conference will be held March 5-8, 2015 at the Swissotel Chicago. Punday is the conference organizer in consultation with faculty from the University of Chicago, Northwestern and the University of Illinois at Chicago, who are providing valuable assistance regarding keynote speakers and collaborators.
Assistant Professor of Philosophy Renee Conroy and Writing Center Director Karen Bishop Morris also are assisting with planning and organizational activities.
Will attract 300+ scholars
The annual event, which is expected to attract some 300 to 350 presenters, is a collaboration between the International Society for the Study of Narrative and the host institution.
“This opportunity is great promotion for Purdue Calumet and our humanities program and will allow us to strengthen connections with some Chicago universities,” Punday said. “It also will provide opportunities for our graduate students to become involved and interact with scholars worldwide.”
Other Purdue Calumet engagement
Purdue Calumet faculty members will have an opportunity to present at the conference, as well as encourage students—notably, graduate students—to participate. More information about this conference will be discussed at a meeting led by Prof. Punday at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 19 in Room with a View.
