The Purdue University Calumet Facebook page is being used as a tool to keep students informed and engaged by providing campus updates, information and tools for their success.
Expanding followers’ base
We’ve gone from 3,181 followers on April 1, 2012 to 4,821 on March 14, 2013, a growth of more than 1,600 persons. This includes students, staff, prospective students and community members, along with parents of our students.
Each month, I write up a report of each post, along with where the information on that post came from, how many “likes” it received, how many comments, and if it was shared with others.
If a comment, or series of comments, seems important to share, it is forwarded to Mark LaCien and Wes Lukoshus and/or the departments involved. We often are asked questions, to which I post answers.
Good experiences inspirational
Students especially seem to appreciate feedback and responses. Recently, a prospective student posted: “Went on a campus tour today and was very impressed. Now off to start my application.”
