Annual ‘Back to School Weekend’ promises full schedule of fun
Three years ago, Purdue Calumet alumni leaders had in mind an event that would accomplish three distinctive goals: increase alumni participation with the university, increase awareness of campus expansion, and allow faculty and staff to engage with alumni and the community.
The result developed into a, ‘Back to School Weekend’ that would target all of these–and then some. This year’s celebration will take place Sept. 20-22.
“This decision to offer this event has proven to be a good one; attendance has increased each year since its inception,” Alumni Events Coordinator Sheryl Corey said. “The variety of activities is a definite draw.”
This popular fall experience, offered by the Purdue Calumet Office of Alumni Relations and Purdue Alumni Calumet (PAC), has drawn large crowds during its initial two years.
This year’s Thursday, Sept. 20 kickoff event is ‘Alumni Leaders Day’ at 4:40 in Alumni Hall. Twenty-two alumni, each representing a Purdue Calumet academic department, will be honored for their career achievements. A question/answer forum and networking reception will take place.
