Facial State Recognition Research Project

School of Technology Faculty has received a 1 year research project from VR Sonic Inc. This project, entitled “Facial State Recognition Research Project” is under the direction of Assistant Professor Ge Jin of the Computer Information Technology and Graphics Department. The award is in the amount of $42,000 and will support research and development of real-time computer vision based facial status recognition system.

This project is to support affective learning in virtual training environments by detecting the human facial features and expressions. This includes 1) human face location tracking, 2) facial feature extraction, and 3) affective state classification.
