Best University to Attain a Technology Degree, according to Northwest Indiana Business Quarterly magazine. In its Spring 2012 issue, the magazine announced: “Purdue University Calumet, Hammond, offers students access to some of the most advanced technology in the world, along with opportunities at the Merrillville technology center.”
Welcome to The School of Technology!!! On our campus you will feel incredible energy, determination and sense of purpose that infuses Purdue University Calumet.
We strive for program excellence through continuously improving our curricula that are connected to industry and businesses. The School of Technology has had a number of accomplishments that continue to enhance the degree programs. I would like to share a few with you:
- Fifteen School of Technology students were inducted into Tau Alpha Pi national honor society for engineering technology students. The society honors invited scholars who have compiled a grade point average of at least 3.3 (4.0 scale), while encouraging a lifetime of commitment to learning and scholarship.
- Professor of Mechanical Engineering Technology and Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies Dr. Mohammad Zahraee received a NSF sub-grant from the National Science Foundation-Advanced Technological Education (NSF-ATE).
- Professor of Industrial Engineering Technology Dr. Lash Mapa earned an American Society for Quality Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (ASQ-CSSBB).
- Purdue Calumet was recognized for the 2nd straight year as the Best University for a Technology Degree, by Northwest Indiana Business Quarterly magazine.
- Construction Management students built walls of a Habitat for Humanity house as part of an experiential learning course.
- For the third consecutive year a School of Technology student team was among the top three winners of a National design collegiate competition at the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) annual trade show, Pack EXPO, in Las Vegas.
- The School of Technology received two endowments from industry partners – one for the Mechatronics Engineering Technology laboratory, named after Nick and Nancy Wilson, of Morrison Container Handling Solutions, and one to support scholarships in the Construction Management and Engineering Technologies program. In addition, Mass. Electric Construction Company provided funding support for a sponsored laboratory in the Construction Management and Engineering Technologies program.
Our graduates are well prepared for careers in their respective fields. They are prepared to enter into wide ranges of positions in industry, business and government. Placement rates of our graduates are excellent with local/regional/national industry and businesses.
