ETS (Educational Talent Search) targets participants for participation in the program primarily from the northern urban core of Lake County schools from the East Chicago, Hammond, and Lake Ridge school corporations.
If you are a student (or parent/guardian of a student) attending school in one of the aforementioned districts you may initiate the application process by contacting the office at 989-2460 or by completing the contact form.
You will receive a higher priority for program participation if you are a:
- student who comes from a family in which neither parent has completed a four-year college degree AND
- you are a student whose family income is within federal requirements and you are a student who is a US citizen or permanent resident of the United States AND
- you are a student who has demonstrated a need for program services in order to pursue successfully a program of education beyond high school AND
- you are a student who has completed at least the 5th grade but has not earned a high school graduation credential, OR is at least 11 years old but not older than 19.
Individual Educational Plan
Each participant is required to complete an interview prior to participation. During the interview program goals and expectations are clarified. A parent or guardian is expected to participate in this process, unless the participant is 18 years of age or older.
An individual educational plan (IEP) is developed for all program participants. The IEP is used as a roadmap for interventions needed to accomplish participant academic goals and springboard to postsecondary enrollment.
