Peregrine Parents - News from the Nest Header

Phase II of The University Village community will open its doors for the first time this month. The addition will nearly double the on-campus population of The University Village community. Staff members have spent the past eighteen months preparing to welcome new members to the residential community.

While Phase II remains very similar to Phase I, there are a few amenities that will be exciting to the residents of The University Village community. Phase II will provide residents with two music practice rooms, a larger computer lab, more meeting/ study space, and a patio behind the building, which will be used for programming purposes.

The Purdue University Calumet community celebrated the opening of Phase II on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, from 3:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. during a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Tours of the new building and a short reception followed.

On Friday, August 28, 2009, from 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., the Department of Housing and Residential Education welcomed returning and new residents into The University Village community in preparations for the Fall Semester which began on Monday, August 31, 2009. Residents were invited to participate in housing orientation sessions as well as activities planned throughout the weekend. The Office of Student Activities and the Department of Housing and Residential Education have collaborated to provide Purdue University Calumet students a “Drive Into Purdue Calumet: Movie on the Lawn” event scheduled on Saturday, August 29th just after dusk.

We look forward to having another wonderful year at Purdue University Calumet!
