Echo 360

Echo 360 is a technology that allows instructors to video capture their classrooms.  It allows the instructor to not only record the voices in the room, but it is also has the capability to connect to computers, document capture equipment (records information written on a piece of paper) or SMART Boards so that the instructional materials (i.e. PowerPoints, “writing” on the board, writing on paper) are also available.

For educational purposes, this technology can be used to assist students who are ill and unable to make it to class, to hold a class even in inclement weather, to enhance distance learning, or to assist the non-traditional student.  By utilizing Echo 360, students are able to stay on top of the information, even when situations are such that they cannot travel to campus.

Classrooms could be equipped with either full capture, which includes video of the classroom/instructor or simply with the voice and computer screen capture (Vodcast). The document capture technology can be used in either situation.

Rooms equipped with full capture are ANDR 148, ANNX 119, ANNX 159, CLO 132, CLO 340, GYTE 143, PORT 108, and POWERS 143.
