Few would argue with the statement that the vast majority of today’s classrooms in higher education are primarily lecture-based to both undergraduate and graduate students. Lecturing continues to be our most prevalent mode of instruction. However, in recent years, professors have been challenged to develop instructional approaches that transform students from passive listeners to active learners. During this session, Dr. Ningchun Han will present what active learning means, why active learning is important, what active learning strategies to use, and how technology can help create active learning activities in a classroom.
