Technology enhances academic achievement when combined with sound instructional practice. The Office of Instructional Technology (OIT) supports the University’s commitment to academic excellence by providing faculty, staff, and students the resources needed to effectively use technology to achieve their educational and operational goals. We provide faculty support through one-on-one and small group training, professional development seminars, and technical assistance. We believe building strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and university leadership helps us encourage and support innovative teaching and transformative learning through technology. Over the summer many technological changes took place on campus: Blackboard has been upgraded to Service Pack 11, which brings improved features and user experience to faculty and students; two educational software packages were implemented to allow instructors flexibility to record substantive lectures while managing libraries of videos and other rich-media contents. Beginning this fall, OIT will offer a series of Brown Bag seminars and workshops to focus on the fusion of academic tools and pedagogy. We are excited about the new academic technology and the upcoming events and look forward to working with each of you to enrich the teaching and learning environment through the use of technology.
