  • Will scholarships reduce the amount of financial aid I can receive?
    • Yes, scholarships are treated as an outside resource that may reduce a student’s need for other financial aid.
  • Why am I only receiving loans?
    • All eligible, admitted students who complete the FAFSA qualify for some type of loan.
    • Students who do not demonstrate financial need qualify for an unsubsidized student loan and Parent PLUS loans (if dependent for financial aid purposes).
  • Can students working on second bachelor’s degrees or teacher certification receive financial aid?
    • Yes, students working on second bachelor’s degrees or teacher certification can qualify for student loans, Parent PLUS loans (if dependent for financial aid purposes), and student employment opportunities.

  • What happens to my financial aid if I graduate in mid year?
    • Loan prorations are required for undergraduate students who graduate in December or August or who do not attend Purdue Calumet in fall but graduate in spring semester.   Students who are at less than full time enrollment will see a reduction in their student loan eligibility so it is important to notify the Registrar’s Office early in the semester of your intended graduation date.
