As a recipient of financial assistance from the federal government, the University is subject to the requirements of several federal laws. These include, but are not limited to, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, which prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of age. To ensure its compliance with these and other federal and state laws, the University has established a notice of nondiscrimination. This notice states in part:
