Non-Nursing Coursework – RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Purdue University Calumet

The School of Nursing at Purdue University Calumet is offering the online RN to BS in Nursing students the opportunity to take some of their non-nursing coursework in the carousel format.  The non-nursing courses at PUC are formatted in 5 or 10 week sessions for your convenience.  These courses are reserved for only online RN to BS in Nursing Majors. 

All of the Non-nursing courses are taught in an online class format and are run through the course management system – Blackboard in the myPUC portal. 

We are currently offering the following courses:

  • COM 214 – Theories of Interpersonal Communication
    • 3 credit hours 
    • Course length – 5 weeks
    • May be used toward – Humanities Elective*, Communication Elective, Free Elective*
  • PHIL 111 - Ethics
    • 3 credit hours 
    • Course length – 5 weeks
    • May be used toward – Philosophy/Humanities Elective, Free Elective*
  • BHS 201 – Statistical Methods
    • 3 credit hours 
    • Course length – 10 weeks
    • May be used toward – Statistical Methods Requirement
  • HIST  –  To Be Determined
    • 3 credit hours

  • Non-nursing courses are not a part of the partnership tuition discount.  That discount only applies to the nursing core curriculum in the online RN to BS in Nursing Completion Program. 
  • Non-nursing courses are set at a flat rate fee which is slightly higher than Purdue’s regular in-state tuition, but significantly lower than out-of-state tuition.  This is due to the fact that the enrollment is restricted to RNs in order to reserve your seat and to provide the course in an online format conducive for your program.  The cost of the non-nursing courses is currently $969.45.
