Purdue University Calumet hosts Chinese
New Year celebration Saturday (2/8)
A limited number of tickets remains available for Purdue University Calumet’s Chinese New Year Dynasty Party Saturday (2/8) on campus.
Games, performances, food
The party, featuring games, performances, karaoke and traditional Chinese food, is scheduled from 1:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Alumni Hall on the third floor of the Student Union & Library.
“The New Year party will introduce traditional Chinese culture and bring people together to celebrate and contribute to a good relationship between faculty/staff and students, especially Chinese students,” Purdue University Calumet Chinese Student Association Advisor and Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Computer Science & Statistics Shuhui (Grace) Yang said. “It also is an opportunity for Purdue Calumet members to interact with the local community.”
Advance tickets are $10 for non-students, $7 for students and $5 for children 5-to-12-years-old; tickets can be purchased on campus from Purdue Calumet Administrative Assistant Linda Robinson (via email, 219/989-2765) in the Powers Computer Education Building. All at-the-door tickets, as long as they last, cost $15. Children younger than 5 are admitted free.
The party is sponsored by the Purdue University Calumet Chinese Student Association and the Northwest Indiana Chinese School/Chinese Community.
Other information can be obtained by contacting Administrative Assistant Robinson.
