Purdue Calumet HTM student receives leadership award

Purdue University Calumet senior hospitality and tourism management student Jenny Delatorre recently received the Lakeshore Professional Women’s Conference Leadership Award 2013.

Graduating in December

Delatorre, of Schererville, is on schedule to graduate in December.

“Jenny is an outstanding representative of the hospitality and tourism management program at Purdue Calumet,” Associate Professor and White Lodging School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Coordinator Geralyn Farley said. “She extends herself by being the first to volunteer for recruitment and catering events, and she has been an outstanding ambassador and dynamic leader in the classroom and across campus.”

Active on campus

Delatorre has been active on campus serving as a new student orientation leader for the Hospitality and Tourism Management Club. She also has been a campus tour leader, a new student orientation leader, and she has assisted with the National Association of Conferences & Events-Chicagoland (NACE).

“When I found out I was the recipient, I could not have been more honored to receive such an award, given all the other women leaders at our university,” Delatorre said.
