Purdue Calumet faculty experts
to discuss Syria Thursday (9/12)
Three Purdue University Calumet international affairs faculty experts will discuss tension and turmoil in Syria during a campus forum at 5 p.m., Thursday (9/12) in Room 130 of the Powers Building.
The Syrian Quagmire
In their presentation, titled “The Syrian Quagmire,” Associate Professor of Political Science Richard Rupp, Assistant Professor of Political Science Margaret Rincker and Valentino Martinez, also a retired State Department official, will share their perspectives about the Syrian Civil War, prospects for a wider regional war, and related questions facing America and its citizens.
“My colleagues and I have been following Presidential-Congressional relations and the issue of war powers for many years,” Rupp said. “We have never seen anything quite like this.”

Admission is free. The Powers Building is part of the north wing of campus, located two-thirds mile north of Interstate 80/94, three blocks east of Indianapolis Boulevard. Free parking is available in a large lot east of Powers and in the adjacent campus parking garage, both accessible from 169th Street.
