Purdue Calumet hosts summer engineering
program for 7th-12th graders June 17-21
To enable middle and high school students to better understand engineering as a possible career field, Purdue University Calumet and its Departments of Engineering are hosting an Engineering Summer Program on campus June 17-21. The enrollment deadline is June 14.
Innovating the Future
“Innovating the future” is the theme of the challenging program for students entering grades 7-12 next fall. Cost is $20. During daily sessions scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., students will explore and engage in projects about alternative energy, biomedical engineering, environmental issues, aerodynamic efficiency, structure and safety, and computer architecture. Field trips also are scheduled.
“Through scientific, as well as artistic creativity, this program will empower students to express their ideas about the future through active, hands-on learning,” Program Director and Mechanical Engineering Instructor Yeow Siow said.
