Registration deadline near for licensure
exam prep course at Purdue Calumet
January 29, 2013 is the deadline to register for a course offered at Purdue University Calumet to prepare engineers and engineering students for the upcoming Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
The course is designed to prepare participants for the April 13, 2013 FE exam scheduled in Indianapolis and Valparaiso University. The course begins January 30 at 6:30 p.m. and features weekly, three-hour exam review sessions each Wednesday through April 10. Subsequently, the next FE exam is offered in October.
Passing the FE exam is an important requirement, according to instructor Yeow Siou of Purdue Calumet’s Mechanical Engineering Department. “This (exam) will give engineers and engineering students the credentials needed in their current and future careers, and is a pre-requisite to obtaining a Professional Engineer (PE) license,” he said. The FE review course offered here covers comprehensive topics for the morning exam, as well as the principle-specific afternoon exam to obtain PE licensure.”
Near perfect exam results
Past classes of participants enrolled in prep courses at Purdue Calumet have enjoyed a near-perfect FE exam pass rate, according to Siow. Experienced Purdue Calumet engineering faculty members teach the course, comprehensively focusing on all exam topics.
“The intensive 11-week course has been specially designed for anyone who would like a refresher in engineering subjects, or anyone who hasn’t studied specific topics in their undergraduate education,” Siow added.
The course is open to senior undergraduate engineering students and other individuals with an ABET/EMAC-accredited engineering degree. Course cost is $450 for Purdue Calumet engineering students and $900 for others. The FE exam cost is $125 and is not included in the course cost.
