Purdue Calumet MBAE students reach out to Gary shelter

Graduate students enrolled in Purdue University Calumet’s MBA for Executives program recently collected and donated non-perishable food items and more than $200 to the Sojourner Truth House of Gary.

After learning about Sojourner Truth House needs from Professor of Human Resource Management John Lucas and Assistant Professor of Leadership Rachel Clapp-Smith, the students organized the collection drive.

The students comprise a 13-member cohort class of business professionals that meets Saturdays for 18 months in pursuit of a Master of Business Administration degree.

Founded in 1997, the Sojourner Truth House is a community resource and day shelter for homeless and at-risk women and children. It serves more than 1,100 individuals per month.
