2 PUC employees recognized for ’Going the Extra Mile with a Smile’

Purdue University Calumet clerical employees Linda Robinson of Schererville and Sheila Stephenson of Crown Point have received the university’s Academic Affairs’ “Going the Extra Mile with a Smile” award for their exemplary service.

The award recognizes clerical, service and administrative professional support staff members who have exhibited noteworthy service to the university.

Robinson is a secretary in the area of Mechanical Engineering. “She does a fantastic job of making sure everyone’s requests are met and goes beyond what is asked for,” Purdue Calumet Department Head and Professor of Mechanical Engineering Chenn Zhou said. “She even goes above and beyond in a situation outside of her comfort zone to be helpful outside of her department.”

Stephenson is a data operations assistant for the Department of Education. “In the absence of several staff members, extra work has been added to Sheila’s plate but she has maintained a positive attitude and has been as friendly and helpful as she always has been,” Purdue Calumet Associate Professor of Education, Lynn Zimmerman, said.
