United Way to honor 3 PUC faculty/staff members for successful pledge drive

The Lake Area United Way chapter selected three Purdue University Calumet faculty and staff members as the 2011 Employee Campaign Manager Team of the Year for Division II.

Karen Holland, office of university relations secretary, Ila Muller, department of housing and residential education clerk, and Maureen Marthaler, associate professor in nursing, will be awarded for their campaign results that embodied a spirit of volunteering and giving.

United Way will hold a campaign manager appreciation lunch June 23 at Wicker Park Social Center in Highland.  The awardees will be presented a plaque to honor their accomplishments.

The three members served as campaign managers in Purdue Calumet’s Lake Area United Way pledge drive.  They oversaw the logistics for pursuing donations by university faculty and staff and the student organization “penny wars” held in the fall of 2010.

The team collected approximately $18,000 in giving.  Donations received consisted of both one-time gifts and contributions through payroll deductions.

The Lake Area United Way chapter seeks to bring together resources from the community to assist residents in Lake County and neighboring Lansing, Ill.
