Porter resident heads NW Indiana Small Business Development Center

LeAnn McCrum, former interim director of the Northwest Indiana Small Business Development Center (SBDC), has been appointed director.

The Porter resident is responsible for directing such SBDC activities as one-on-one business consulting, workshops and market research tools to help small business owners grow their business. Her primary areas of consulting include business planning, financial forecasting and budgeting, and strategic planning and implementation.

Purdue University Calumet, in collaboration with Indiana University Northwest and Ivy Tech Northwest Community College sponsor the Northwest Indiana SBDC.

“It is gratifying to be able to work with small companies that, without the SBDC, might not have access to the kinds of services we offer,” McCrum said.

She has a background working with large companies in training and development, selection and assessment, performance management and strategic planning. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University.
