Late Professor John Maniotes honored

Late Purdue Calumet Professor John Maniotes, a computing pioneer who taught on our campus for 38 years, will be inducted posthumously on the Northwest Indiana South Shore Wall of Legends at 6 p.m. Thursday (12/9) at the Indiana Welcome Center, Hammond (Kennedy Avenue & Interstate 80/94). His recognition is based on exploration, courage, creativity and innovation.

Prof. Maniotes is among 17 Northwest Indiana “Legends” to be recognized on the Wall, sponsored by BP Business Whiting Unit and coordinated by Woodlands Communications Group President John Davies.

Additionally, as part of the event, Purdue Calumet student Theresa Kaye Elizalde will receive a $1,000 scholarship, sponsored by First Midwest Bank. To RSVP to attend, phone Kailyn Rynberk at 219/554-2229.
