PUC youth volleyball camp & golf clinic begin June 28

Instruction in basic skills and techniques is the focus of volleyball and golf camps Purdue University Calumet is offering, beginning June 28, for youngsters who have completed grades 3-8.

The Volleyball Skills Camp, conducted by Purdue Calumet Women’s Head Volleyball Coach Natalie Shadowen, is scheduled June 28-July 1 and is applicable for beginning and experienced players. Daily sessions for third, fourth and fifth graders are from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Purdue Calumet Fitness & Recreation Center. Per camper cost is $45. Ninety-minute sessions for sixth, seventh and eighth graders begin at 10 a.m. Cost is $60.

Purdue Calumet’s Junior Golf Clinic, directed by Purdue Calumet Men’s Head Golf Coach Matt Meneghetti, will emphasize basic instruction in grip, stance, swing, chipping and putting. Participants also will learn golf procedures, terminology, rules and etiquette. Two clinics are scheduled: June 28-July 1 and July 13-16, both from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Centennial Park driving range in Munster. Participant cost is $90. Each participant must bring his/her own clubs.
