Purdue University Calumet celebrates homecoming on campus Saturday (2/9) with two basketball games, two presentations of award and recognition, an alumni reception and a student dance.
Purdue Calumet’s women’s basketball team hosts Judson College at 4:30 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. by the Peregrines-Judson men’s teams game. Both contests will take place in the Fitness & Recreation Center at the south end of campus.
During halftime of the men’s game, Purdue Calumet 1990 alumna and former women’s basketball player Brenda (Clark) Drook will receive the Purdue Alumni Association-Calumet’s annual Bob Hayes Athletic Alumni Award. Drook is a school teacher and head varsity boys basketball coach at Hebron High School.
Purdue Calumet Asst. Vice Chancellor of Health, Recreation and Sports Robert Bunnell will introduce the charter inductee of the new Purdue University Calumet Athletic Hall of Fame.
An alumni reception, hosted by the Purdue Alumni Association-Calumet, will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. in the southeast corner of the gymnasium. All alumni and their families are invited to attend.
Additionally, the PUC Dance team will perform and Homecoming Court candidates will be introduced at halftime of the men’s game. The candidates are:

Queen: Katy Rojas, Hammond, Finance; Natalie King, Merrillville, Elementary Education; Melissa Powell, Hammond, Accounting/Human Resources;
Prince: Conrad Kerosky, Highland; Silas Simpson, Gary, Criminal Justice; Brandon Sims, Merrillville, Entrepreneurship;
Princess: Shari Warren, Hammond, Pre-Optometry; Jacqueline Perez, St. John, Hospitality and Tourism Management; Farrin Clay, Hammond, Criminal Justice; Sydney Ruman, St. John, Chemistry (Pre-Med); and Vanessa Roman, Munster, Radio Broadcasting.
The homecoming dance themed, “A Red Carpet Affair,” will be held at The Calumet Conference Center at the south end of campus at 9 p.m. Purdue Calumet students displaying their student ID card are welcome to attend with their guest.
