10-week running/walking program for the new Spring Fling 5K Ramp Run, Feb. 15

A 10-week running/walking training program for the new Spring Fling 5K Ramp Run is the topic of a fitness seminar to be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15 in Room 129 of Purdue University Calumet’s Fitness and Recreation Center.

According to John Bobalik, coordinator of Purdue Calumet’s Fitness Center and exercise physiologist, the seminar highlights are:

  • Explanation of the new Spring Fling 5K Ramp Run course that goes through Purdue Calumet’s four-level parking garage up the incline ramps to the top level and back down.
  • Review of a 10-week training program for walkers; and beginning, intermediate and advanced runners.
  • Distribution of Spring Fling course maps and a schedule of other local walks and runs.

The Spring Fling will be held April 29.

Though admission to the seminar is free, advance registration is encouraged due to limited seating. Individuals can advance register for the seminar or obtain more information about the Spring Fling by phoning Purdue Calumet’s Fitness Center at 219/989-2175 or 800/HI-PURDUE, ext. 2175.

The Fitness Center is a comprehensive exercise and workout facility for students, faculty, staff and community members housed in Purdue Calumet’s Fitness and Recreation Center-one-third mile north of Interstate 80/94, three blocks east of Indianapolis Boulevard (U.S. 41), south of 173rd Street.
