Dr. Kim wins Outstanding Paper award

Dr. Junyong Kim and Dr. Lori Feldman won the Outstanding Paper Award in the Services Marketing track for their paper entitled “Understanding Needs for and Expectations of Academic Advising Services:  A case of a comprehensive, urban, commuter university.

The award was presented at the Marketing Management Association Spring Conference on March 25, 2010.

Dr. Smith appointed to Editorial Board of JLOS

We are delighted to announce that Professor Rachel Smith has been appointed to the Editorial Board of the Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies. 

The Journal publishes articles to advance the theory, research and practice of all aspects of leadership and organizations. Research results are preferred, but theoretical contributions and new applications are also appropriate. Although leadership topics are emphasized, any area of interest in organizational behavior, human resource management, strategy, international management, or entrepreneurship is also encouraged.

Department welcomes two new faculty members

The Department of Marketing, HR, and Management is delighted to welcome two new faculty members who will start in the fall semester of 2009.

• Claudia Costiuc, Ph.D. – Assistant Professor of Marketing
  Dr. Costiuc comes to Kent State University where she earned her doctorate in Marketing. 
• Rachel Smith, Ph.D. – Assistant Professor of Leadership
  Dr. Smith comes to us from the University of Nebraska where she earned her doctorate in Organizational Behavior and Leadership.

International Scholar speaking at PUC

Dr. Yehuda Peled, of Western Galilee College, is visting Purdue University Calumet on September 15, 2008.  Dr. Peled will be giving a presentation on “Procrastination in Online Environment Learning”.  We invite you to attend this presentation in “Room with a View”.  The presentation will be held at noon and refreshments will be served.

Department welcomes new faculty!

The Department of Marketing, HR, and Management is delighted to welcome four new faculty members who will start in the fall semester of 2008.

• Susan Conners, Ph.D. – Associate Professor of Equine Management
  Dr. Conners comes to our department from the Dept of Information Systems.  She is currently the program director for our new Equine Management programs. 
• Michael Palanski, Ph.D. – Assistant Professor of Leadership
  Dr. Palanski comes to us from the Rochester Institute of Technology where he was a Visiting Assistant Professor.  Dr. Palanski earned his doctorate from the State University of New York at Binghamton.  His research focuses on ethical leadership.
• Charles Rarick, Ph.D. – Professor of International Business
  Dr. Rarick comes to us from Barry University in Miami, FL.   Dr. Rarick earned his Ph.D.  from St. Louis University.  Dr. Rarick’s research focuses on international management, particularly focused on China.  He is a prolific author of many articles, cases, and books.
• Derek Ruth, Ph.D. – Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship
  Dr. Ruth comes to us from Wichita State University where he was Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and helped to develop a nationally recognized entrepreneurship program. Dr. Ruth earned his Ph.D from the Krannert School at Purdue University – West Lafayette.
