Student Poster Winners at the IAMFT Spring Conference 2013

Anike R. Adekoya, Sarayu Chandrashekar, and Malavi Madhusudan, graduate students at the PUC MFT program, had the first place and people’s choice award at the IAMFT Spring Conference with their poster about “STAA Assessment: Sex Therapy with African Americans”. Jamey Baumbusch, Kelsi Kellen, Colleen Kelly, and Anne Marie Schoenherr had the second place award at the conference with their poster about “Facilitating Parental Acceptance of GLB Youth”. The third place award went to Dallas Dralle, Anike R. Adekoya, Colleen Kelly, and Stephen Stewart. Their poster was on “Working with Military Individuals, Couples, and Families: Ethical Considerations for Marriage and Family Therapists”.

2013 IAMFT Graduate Student Research Award

Brie Turns, a graduate student at the PUC MFT program won the 2013 IAMFT Graduate Student Research Award for her project entitled, “Marriage and Family Therapy Students’ and Faculty’s Perceptions of Program Enhancers and Stressors”.

2012 AAMFT Completed Thesis Award

Two Purdue University Calumet marriage and family therapy graduates, Lindsay Murphy and Kristy Soloski, each won the 2012 AAMFT Completed Theis Award. Kristy Soloski, a 2010 graduate of the PUC MFT program, won the award for her project entitled, “The intergenerational transmission of marital expectations and subsequent relationship satisfaction”. Lindsay Murphy, a 2011 graduate of the PUC MFT program, won the award for her project entitled, “Adult Attachment, Attributions, the Four Horsemen, and Relationship Satisfaction in Dating Relationships”.

2012 AAMFT/SAMSHA Minority Fellowship

A Purdue University Calumet marriage and family therapy graduate, Kit Wickel, has received a prestigious fellowship from the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). Kit received the AAMFT/SAMSHA Minority Fellowship. Kit, of Bismarck, ND, is a marriage and family therapy doctoral student at University of Minnesota.

Two Purdue University Calumet marriage and family therapy graduates, Sharde’ McNeil and Kristy Soloski, each have received a prestigious fellowship from the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). They won the AAMFT/SAMSHA Minority Fellowship. Kristy, of Parma, OH, is a marriage and family therapy doctoral student at Kansas State University. Sharde’, of Fayetteville, NC, is a marriage and family therapy doctoral student at Florida State University.
