2009 LASS Career Night

Career Night Overview

Over 300 students, alumni, faculty, and community professionals participated in this event which was held in Alumni Hall on March 11, 2009.

LASS Job Shadowing was the main focus for the evening.  Job Shadowing offers students the opportunity to go to work for a day with our successful alumni and other community professionals.  Over 125 students signed up and will be shadowing the generous participants.

The Department of History and Political Science sponsored a ‘Law School Breakout Session’ at the event.  Representatives from Valparaiso University School of Law and John Marshall Law School discussed the processes and procedures of applying to law school.  Alums, Amanda Hires and David Vlink, answered students’ questions and shared their experiences of life in law school.

Regina Biddings-Muro, one of our many successful alumni, was the guest speaker.  She addressed the importance of networking and using the skills learned with a Liberal Arts degree.  She encouraged all of the students to try different fields of work and expand their knowledge through internships and job shadowing.

The School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences thanks all of the people who attended this event for their contributions and continued support.
