Purdue University Calumet is now home to a 9 hole firsbee golf course. The course was completed on Monday, November 12th and is now open for play. All 9 holes are located south of 173rd St. Holes 1 – 5 are located behind University Village phase II. Holes 6 – 9 are located behind the Challenger Learning Center, which is adjacent to the west side of the HTM Building. All tees are marked with distance and par. Each hole starting point has a black rubber tee pad. Participants may check-out the discs at the Fitness Center Check-in desk. All you need is your PUC ID or driver’s license. There are 3 discs per set: A Driver, Mid-Range and Putter.
Frisbee golf for those who don’t know is also called Frolf or Disc Golf. The game is played similar to golf. You tee off at a set spot by throwing the disc. As in golf you count how many times it takes you get it into the hole, or in this case the basket. It’s a fun game for all ages and skill levels that can be played competitively or for recreation. Not only is it great exercise but it is another addition to the ever growing life here on campus.
Also be out on the lookout for frisbee golf tournaments this spring semester.
There are many to thank for making this project happen: Chancellor Keon, John & Debbie Bachmann and Sarah Howard to name a few. Thank you to all and hope to see you all on the course soon.
