Are you graduating this semester or after the summer semester?  If so, it is time to file for Optional Practical Training so that your work authorization will be approved by your graduation.  Learn more about Optional Practical Training (OPT) and how to complete the application packet that will be sent to USCIS (US Citizenship and Immigration Services) for approval.  OPT is work authorization that is granted by USCIS to students after they graduate to find employment and work in United States for one year. Students file for work authorization in the last semester of their academic program.  A job offer is not required to file for OPT.

Does your major require an internship or other training related to your academic program? Is training an integral part of a course you plan to take? International Students and Scholars Services will hold Curricular Practical Training (CPT) workshops to answer your training application questions.
