PART II: Arrival Information

IMPORTANT:
(1)New international students who wish to be picked up from the airport must arrive at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) or Chicago Midway Airport (MDW) between the dates and times listed below:

Fall 2013 term: August 2-11, 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST)

(2) After you complete the Arrival Form, please e-mail a copy of your flight itinerary to ipomentors@purduecal.edu or upload your list here:

If you do not arrive during the airport pick-up times: If you arrive on a date or at a time of the day when we do not offer airport pick-ups, you will need to arrange your own transportation from O’Hare or Midway airports.

In this case, we recommend that you take the Coach USA bus, which is available from both airports, to the HIGHLAND, IN Bus Terminal (located at 8144 Indianapolis Boulevard in Highland, Indiana, which is about 2 miles from the campus). The ride from the airports takes approximately one hour. For more information, please visit their website at www.coachusa.com. Tickets can be purchased online or at the airport (approximately $22 one way). Coach USA’s last bus leaving O’Hare and Midway airports is about 11:00 p.m. (Subject to change; visit Coach USA’s website to confirm).

You will also need transportation from the Highland Bus Terminal to the University Village residence halls at PUC (if you have already reserved a space there) or at a local hotel. Listed below are a few taxi cab companies that you can call for a ride:

If you arrive at the airport when Coach USA or another coach bus service is not available, you may decide to stay at a hotel in Chicago. Below are a couple of hotels near the Chicago airports:

PART III: Housing Information

NOTE: Most international students live in the University Villge (UV), which are Purdue University Calumet’s university residence halls.

IMPORTANT: If you have submitted your housing contract, $20.00 application fee and $200.00 deposit and you have not received a housing assignment confirmation, please contact the Department of Housing and Residential Education at housing@purduecal.edu immediately because space is limited.

Hotel Information – It is important for you to make sure that you have a place to stay upon your arrival in the United States. You will need to stay in a hotel if you have no other place to stay your first few nights. Hotel prices can vary greatly, ranging from less than $100 to a few hundred dollars. Some of the local hotels may offer you a lower price if you tell them that you are a Purdue University Calumet student.
