‘Honoring the Vision…’ Gala set for May 7

To honor the service and contributions to Purdue Calumet and Northwest Indiana of Chancellor Howard and Patti Cohen, a committee of friends and colleagues is planning a spring Gala. Honoring the Vision of Howard and Patti Cohen is the theme of the event, scheduled Saturday, May 7 at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza in Merrillville.

Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cash bar social time, followed by dinner and a program.  Dancing, featuring Together, a talented, 11-member band that performs diversified musical styles—from pop and rhythm & blues to big band and Latin rock—will round out the evening.

Alumni, community members, businesses, faculty, staff, and friends of the University are invited to celebrate Chancellor Cohen’s leadership and Patti’s support. Proceeds will go to the Purdue University Calumet Chancellor’s Scholars Awards Fund. The fund supports full tuition scholarships for Valedictorian and Salutatorian graduates of area high schools. Tickets are $100* each. Sponsorship opportunities also are available.

For additional information or details about sponsorship opportunities, please contact the Purdue Calumet Office of Advancement at 219/989-2323 or visit To purchase tickets or table sponsorships, contact John Friend at 219/989-2540.

*According to IRS regulations, $50 of each $100 ticket purchased may be considered a tax-deductible gift to the University.

Thank You!

Many thanks to Purdue Calumet alumni and friends who made gifts of more than $40,000 to the Chancellor’s Annual Fund appeal. Each year, Purdue Calumet alumni and friends are invited to support scholarships, departmental initiatives and academic school funding.

Some 300 alumni and friends responded to our November Annual Fund mail/phone appeal.  Gifts to the Annual Fund directly assist students by supporting scholarships, innovative academic programs, enhanced campus facilities and much more.

Annual Fund support helps keep a Purdue education at Purdue Calumet within reach of all deserving students. Generous donors provide the balance, creating educational opportunities, expanding intellectual horizons, and making it possible for students to achieve their career ambitions.

Your support is greatly appreciated!
