National alumni networks being organized

With Purdue Calumet alumni residing nationwide, university officials are seeking to engage and establish national alumni networks—most recently in Florida.

During a mid-March trip to Florida, three alumni hosted Chancellor Howard and Mrs. Patricia Cohen, Vice Chancellor of Advancement Daniel Hendricks and Major Gifts Officer Frank Podkul in Fort Myers, Naples and Weston/Fort Lauderdale. Serving as gracious hosts were Blas Belmonte (1980, B.S. Building Construction Technology); Mike McConnell (1974, B.S. Electronic Technology) and his wife, Victoria; and West Lafayette graduate Richard Kristoff (1956, B.S. Mechanical Engineering), father of two Purdue Calumet graduates.

Last November, Podkul also visited Florida alumni in West Palm Beach, Orlando, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Bradenton, Naples, Fort. Lauderdale and Fort Myers. Look for a Purdue Calumet Florida facebook page.

“We want to identify Purdue Calumet alumni populations across the country, develop networks and schedule events,” Podkul said.

Out-of-town alumni interested in hosting an event are invited to contact Purdue Calumet’s Office of Advancement at 219/989-2323.
