Karen S (Kornman) Harwood M.A. (English) BA, received the “Teacher of the Year” award at Irvine High School, Irvine CA. Karen is married to Dr. Glenn Harwood, a PUC Instructor of Communication during 1976-77.
Louise Chickie-Wolfe, Ph.D. (Education) MS, published her second book, Lucky to Be a Teacher: Life-Changing Affirmations for Positive Classrooms. Her first book is Fostering Independent Learning: Practical Strategies to Promote Student Success. Louise has been a PUC adjunct faculty member since 1977.
Donna Kiper Beaman (Engineering) BSE, Fort Collins, CO, has been appointed Director of the Larimer Small Business Development Center (SBDC). SBDCs offer high-quality, cost effective business assistance, information and support to new and existing businesses. Donna previously owned a Colorado business coaching firm and hopes to leverage her business knowledge in her new position.
Juan Jose Soto Perez (Technology) BS, Indianapolis, is now a major in the U.S. Army and is serving in Iraq.
Michelle D. Reppen (Political Science & History) BA, White Lake, MI, joined Invescor Ltd. as Director of Sales. Michelle has nearly 20 years of sales, business development and human resources experience.
David Novak (History) BA and Jenifer Novak (English ’96) BA, welcomed their fourth child, Meredith, June 4. Meredith joins siblings Michael, Jillian and Benjamin. David teaches political science/government for PUC.
Keith Massa (Psychology) BA (MSHRM WL ’98), Fishers, and his wife, Kristin, celebrated the birth of their twins, son Jonas Michail and daughter Jocelyn Mae, April 23. Keith is an Implementation Consultant for ADP (5 yrs.) and works remotely from his home.
Doreen M. Jimenez (Management /Accounting) BS, Cedar Lake, received an Executive MBA from the University of Notre Dame May 17. The program includes an International Studies component, for which she studied at the prestigious Koc University and Bosphorous University in Istanbul, Turkey and at the University of Oxford, Oxford, United Kingdom. She is employed as manager of IT Financial Implementations for Junction Solutions Consulting, a Microsoft Partner. Doreen lives in Cedar Lake with her two children, Lillian and Josephine, who are both competing gymnasts and attend Jane Ball Elementary School.
Mari Gallas Plikuhn (Psychology) BA, West Lafayette, received the Purdue University 2009 Graduate School’s Excellence in Teaching Award. This award recognizes graduate students who exemplify excellence in the university’s learning mission. It is the highest award in recognition of graduate student teachers.
Angela (Grabelle) Velez (English) MA, Mishawaka, is Coordinator of Learning Technologies for Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago.
Martha Sanders (Political Science & History) BA, has been serving in the Peace Corps for the past two years. She has been a volunteer in Costa Rica, where she has taught English classes to community members and has helped high school English teachers learn better pronunciation and grammar. Martha looks forward to returning to the U.S. this fall and returning to PUC to finish her master’s degree in history.
Ana G. Fletcher (Liberal Arts) BA, wants to share her Peruvian heritage with her fellow alumni. She invites everyone to know her wonderful country of Peru. She is a writer and poet and has given several speeches about her Peruvian culture. Ana also is proud to be a Purdue alumna.
