Calnet is Purdue University Calumet’s wireless network; it connects wireless-ready laptops, tablets, PDAs, and phones to the Purdue Calumet network and, through it, to the Internet. Calnet is accessible throughout all campus buildings and select green spaces.

There are currently two versions of Calnet available for use: Calnet2 and Calnet3. The older version, Calnet2, has been in service since 2008 and is available throughout campus. The newest version, Calnet3, is now available. In addition to providing better coverage, Calnet3 also supports the latest wireless networking standards to provide the fastest and most secure connection available. All connections to Calnet are authenticated and encrypted in order to help protect your data.

How do I get connected?

A tool is available to get you connected to Calnet as quickly as possible. To access it, connect your wireless device to the “Calnet Setup” wireless network, open a web browser, and access your home page. You will be automatically re-directed to the XpressConnect setup page. Follow the on-screen instructions to automatically get connected to the appropriate Calnet secure wireless network.

Note: Android users may need to allow the installation of non-Market applications in the device settings of their Android device in order to properly run the XpressConnect tool.

What about visiting guests?

If you have guests visiting the University that need wireless network access, you may request an account for them.
