The sender is trying to acquire protected or sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, credit card details and social security numbers by masquerading as a trustworthy entity. Phishing emails may contain links to websites that are infected with malware. Phishing is an example of social engineering techniques used to deceive users and exploits the poor usability of current web security technologies.
Do not respond to these messages or click on any embedded links. Please forward these messages as an Outlook attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Purdue University, other organizations or businesses will never ask you for sensitive or protected information via E-Mail.
