I remember traveling to hotels with my family as a little girl, thinking “what magical places!” Magic in a hospitality operation is when things happen behind the scenes to present a seamless product and service to the guest. I wanted to be a part of that magic and so in high school I held my first hotel role and the journey began. . .
How I’ve Helped Make Magic:
As a Hospitality Professional, I have 20 years of experience in hotel operations, human resources, training, general management, customer service and education. I have participated in pre-opening activities for several hotels and traveled extensively to train hotel owners, managers/supervisors, and associates. I enjoy public speaking and have facilitated workshops on a variety of topics and created numerous best practices in the areas of employee retention and recognition.
As a Hospitality Educator, I was able to redesign hospitality management program curriculum and facilitate a variety of courses. I am leading our online curriculum design initiative and continue to create strategies for student recruitment, retention, and classroom engagement.
As a Hospitality Writer, I co-Authored The RevPAR Formula, published in April 2011. It has received positive Customer Reviews on BarnesandNoble.com, Amazon.com, and The Reading List by Amazon on LinkedIn.com. I have written and edited several newsletters, blog entries, articles, press releases, training video scripts, announcements, and presentations.
My life’s goal is to make magic for children by being the best aunt in the world! It is through my passion for hotels that I plan to own my own hotel providing an opportunity to build “Auntie Jody’s House,” a home away from home for foster children.
