Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost, Purdue University Calumet and Purdue University North Central, Hammond and Westville, Indiana

Position Description

Purdue University Calumet and Purdue University North Central invite applications and nominations for the position of Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost. These two institutions are unifying to create Purdue University Northwest, pending Higher Learning Commission approval, in time for the start of the 2016-17 academic year.

The Vice Chancellor will assist the Chancellor in the ongoing unification efforts and help forge the structure and culture of Purdue University Northwest. This is an opportunity for a motivated academic administrator to join a leadership team in the midst of significant change. The new Vice Chancellor will participate in the evolution of an institution establishing itself as a university of choice in Indiana and its northwest region.

An academically comprehensive regional university and part of the internationally respected Purdue University system, the emerging Purdue University Northwest will be established on two campuses in northwest Indiana near downtown Chicago and the shores of Lake Michigan. Once unification is approved, Purdue University Northwest will be the fifth largest public university in Indiana, enrolling approximately 15,000 students and offering more than 50 graduate and undergraduate programs of study on two campuses. Purdue University Northwest’s larger scale will provide enhanced opportunities for students, such as more choices in programs, a wider variety of shared online courses, and more options for community engagement and professional development.

The institution will serve a wide variety of students and a significant number of first generation college students. The emerging Purdue University Northwest has a growing international student population and a robust undergraduate research program with many students presenting at the annual Clement Stacy Memorial Undergraduate Research Conference.

Under the proposed structure of Purdue University Northwest, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost would oversee the deans of six colleges: the College of Engineering and Sciences; the College of Technology; the College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences; the College of Business; the College of Nursing; and the Honors College.
