A native Californian, Prof. Rupp worked on a variety of political campaigns and served as a Senate Fellow with the California legislature before pursuing his Ph.D.. His research and teaching interests center on international relations, with a particular focus on cooperation amount the major powers during times of armed conflict. His classes feature student-led simulations of international conflicts. Prof. Rupp has spent a considerable amount of time in the Balkans researching the wars in the former Yugoslavia. He has published several book chapters and journal articles on the subject.
