Department of History and Political Science

Greetings and Welcome to the Department of History and Political Science at Purdue University Calumet!

Whether you seek exciting discussion and analysis of global and local events, broad intellectual training, or practical career guidance, the PUC Department of History and Political Science is the place to be. Our department consists of fourteen highly trained faculty members who are engaged in an array of scholarly pursuits. Our historians and political scientists are devoted to student achievement and support experiential learning, student conferences, and study abroad.

Our department offers Bachelors of Arts in History and Political Science, in addition to options in Criminal Justice and Social Studies Teaching. We also offer a Masters in History. Graduates from our programs have pursued careers in the law, secondary education, law enforcement, journalism, and non-profit organizations, among others.

History and Political Science majors are active and engaged in PUC organizations including: Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science Honors Society), Phi Alpha Theta (History Honors society), and the Criminal Justice Club. Each year these organizations sponsor numerous events on campus and in the broader community

Our majors participate in valuable internships which serve as stepping stones for rewarding career paths. During the past year, students from the department have worked in the U.S. presidential campaign, participated in internships in the Philippines, Macedonia, and Ethiopia, and have published research in student journals.
