The specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy at Purdue University Calumet is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). This will allow students to apply to accredited COAMFTE doctoral programs, Clinical Membership in AAMFT, and take the MFT state licensure exam after they have completed the required number of post-graduate hours practicing family therapy.

Responding to the growing need for qualified professionals in the social and human services professions, the Department of Behavioral Sciences now offers a Master of Science degree with a specialization in Human Development and Family Studies (the HDFS Master’s Program). This graduate specialization is aimed at those already working in human and social service settings as well as students who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and wish to further their education at the graduate level.
