Bachelor of Arts in French or Spanish

The foreign language major is designed to advance linguistic knowledge and to foster an understanding of culture and literature. This major provides a good foundation for graduate studies.

Bachelor of Arts (Teaching Option)

French or Spanish Heritage and Non-Heritage Options
The teaching major is designed to meet certification requirements of the State of Indiana. Language courses are combined with professional education requirements for middle school, junior high, and senior high school teaching.

Minor in French or Spanish

The foreign language minor is designed for students wanting to complement a major in another area. Fifteen credits of coursework (not to include departmental credit) beyond 202, including a course in composition and a course in conversation. (Courses must be in the same language.)

Certificate in Spanish Translation

The Certificate in Spanish Translation is suitable for individuals who have employment needs for Spanish translation. The seven Spanish courses required for this certificate could also count towards a bachelor degree in Spanish.

Other Languages and Courses

The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures offers a variety of introductory level language courses and special purpose courses for various foreign languages.
