NCATE Accreditation and Assessment Information

We welcome you to the College of Education at Purdue University Calumet! This website showcases the quality and depth of our programs and faculty members as well as the successes of our candidates. We take special pride in producing well-prepared professional educators, primarily for northwest Indiana and the Chicago metropolitan region. Our faculty members focus on research that has, in many cases, direct impact on the work of educational professionals in our community, region, and nation.

We are deeply involved in the regional P-12 and higher education community. All of our programs have significant outreach initiatives that are beneficial both to our programs and candidates and to the practitioners in the field. These include a professional development school initiative for undergraduate teacher preparation and a Center for Educational Leadership for our graduate educational leadership program.

This website will display assessment information and other crucial information necessary for NCATE accreditation purposes. All are free to peruse this site and learn about our programs and their success. Please contact us with questions if you have any.

Our Educational Administration graduates have over 90% passing rate on the SLLA for the past three years.  We are proud that our graduates even surpassed the average score in the state of Indiana and in the US for the 2011-2012 academic year.  These scores reflect our mission to produce highly effective school leaders who know how to turn around struggling schools.

The above data represent pass-rate percentages for each of the licensure programs in the Department of Teacher Preparation (DTP). Programs with less than five students (i.e., special education, foreign language, economics, government/political science, psychology, sociology, and world history) are not included in this analysis due to the practice of not reporting these low number results by the Educational Testing Service.

Graduates of the elementary education program had over 90% pass rates on all of the content areas.  This is the first time that the four content areas were tested separately.  This is higher than the 80% required for full accreditation. Secondary content-area results also show reasonably high pass rates.

The overall pass rates for the reported data on Praxis II during 2012-13 are very high (96%, 150/156).
