Join the PUC Student Organizations, University Village, and the faculty, staff and students of Purdue Calumet on Feb. 8-11 as they set out to collect 1,000 NEW stuffed animals for the I NEED A HUG program. More than 85 schools in NW Indiana are using stuffed animals to help children in crises who need counseling, as well as in the classroom as “reading buddies” to help raise reading scores! The program has been a huge success with one school reporting a more than 40 percent improvement in its 6th grade reading levels!
Drop off NEW stuffed animals in SUL 349, SUL 104, or LAWS 352 during the week of Feb. 8-11, 2010. Also, plan to attend the I NEED A HUG Celebration and Count Off on Thursday, Feb. 11 at noon in Calumet Falls, located in PUC’s Student Union & Library Building. Student organizations and other student teams will be bringing their stuffed animals that day and plaques will be awarded for three categories for bringing in the most NEW stuffed animals: student organization team, University Village team, and academic course team.
