CSSAC Spring 2013 Scholarship

The Clerical and Service Staff Advisory Committee (CSSAC) would like to announce the Semi-Annual Scholarship Awards for Clerical and Service Staff Employees and their Dependents.  These scholarships are intended to help ease the burden of expenses for clerical and service staff employees and their dependents.

Six scholarships will be available for the Spring 2013 semester:  3 scholarships to clerical or service staff employees, and 3 scholarships to clerical or service staff dependents.

Guidelines and Selection Procedures

Guidelines

  1. Scholarship for Employee Dependent:
    1. Must be a dependent child of a Purdue University Calumet regular clerical and/or service employee who has been employed for a minimum of one year.
    2. Must be either an undergraduate degree seeking student or incoming freshman who meets the eligibility criteria.
    3. Must be taking at least 3 credit/non-credit hours (excludes Resource Center courses) per semester at Purdue University Calumet.
    4. A continuing student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0 scale.
    5. An incoming freshman must have a high school GPA of 2.5 on an equated 4.0 scale.
    6. May receive one Scholarship in the Fall or Spring and then is eligible again for the next award semester.
    7. Must be enrolled as a student at Purdue University Calumet in order to receive this scholarship.
  2. Scholarship for Purdue University Calumet Employee:
    1. Must be a regular clerical or service staff employee, who has been employed for a minimum of one year and seeking a degree at Purdue University Calumet.
    2. Must be enrolled in undergraduate or graduate credit/non-credit classes (excludes Resource Center Courses) at Purdue University Calumet.
    3. A continuing student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0 scale.
    4. May receive one Scholarship in the Fall or Spring and then is eligible again for the next award semester.
    5. Must be enrolled as a student at Purdue University Calumet in order to receive this scholarship.
  3. Students with six (6) or more credit hours will receive $300. Students with less than six (6) credit hours will receive the cost of the class and books up to $300. Scholarships may be applied for each Fall and Spring semester, as long as the criteria in the guidelines are met. CSSAC will determine the number of scholarships to be awarded on an annual basis. We encourage you to apply.
  4. Selection Procedure

    1. Applications will be distributed through electronic campus mail by October 22, 2012 (attached).
    2. Applications must be completed and returned to John Harris, Powers 218 no later than 4:00 PM Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Late applications will not be accepted.
    3. Scholarship eligibility will be based on the established guidelines.
    4. Prior to the selection of the scholarship recipients, the Financial Aid Office will be requested to verify the enrollment status and eligibility. In the event a selected individual fails to meet the required guidelines, or is not register for the Spring 2013 semester, an alternate recipient will be selected. NOTE: You must be enrolled in the Fall 2012 semester in order to be eligible for the drawing.
    5. Scholarship recipients will be selected by random drawing on Thursday, November 15, 2012, by an official of the University, to be designated by CSSAC. Members of the CSSAC Scholarship Committee and Chair will be in attendance at the drawing. Applicants, as well as all campus employees, are encouraged to attend. Selection results will be communicated to scholarship applicants and the Financial Aid Office on or about Thursday, November 15, 2012.
    6. CSSAC members or their dependents that apply for the scholarships shall NOT be permitted to serve on the Scholarship Committee.
