Academic Affairs Office Welcomes New Faculty Fellow

I would like to congratulate Jay Lee, Associate Professor of Construction Management in the Department of Construction Science and Organizational Leadership, School of Technology, on his appointment as Faculty Fellow in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for Summer and Fall 2013. He will join Dr. Cheryl Moredich, Associate Professor of Nursing who will be serving a second semester as Faculty Fellow.

Professor Lee earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Purdue University. He has been at Purdue University Calumet since August of 2005. Dr. Lee teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses and has served on a number of departmental and school committees and also on scholarly and professional societies. Dr. Jay Lee has served as member for the Research Board and will assume the role as Chair of the Research Board for the 2013-14 academic year. I am pleased to welcome Dr. Lee to the Academic Affairs Office as Faculty Fellow.

The Faculty Fellowship Program is designed to offer first-hand experience in working directly within Academic Affairs to broaden comprehension and skill in the administration of university practices and policies. Fellows will shepherd entire projects from start to finish, participate in key meetings and events, and will be mentored by senior leadership. The Fellowship is equivalent to a half-time appointment.

This was a very competitive process as I received applications from very qualified and talented faculty members. I sincerely appreciate their interest in the program. I would like to thank Department Heads and Deans for their thoughtful support of the candidates.

Please join me in congratulating Jay Lee on his new appointment and Cheryl Moredich as she continues her appointment as Faculty Fellows in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
